Shredded

Reducing textile waste by repurposing them into usable products, ultimately creating a circular use cycle.

About Shredded

Shredded is a project run by Enactus Laurier that is focused on textile waste and how to repurpose old textiles into usable products.  Through scientific procedures, we are able to reuse large amounts of second-hand clothing that would otherwise end up in a landfill or create air pollution through an incineration process.

It takes 120 litres of water and 15 pounds of carbon dioxide to produce one cotton shirt. The average Canadian disposes approximately of 28 pounds of textile waste each year. Additionally, 95% of textiles are recyclable, but currently, less than 16% of them are properly recycled back into the system.  We hope to counteract the damage that textile waste has on our environment by finding ways to utilize the materials that would otherwise be sent to our landfills.
